Awake - GreeneStreet Films

Above is a trailer for the movie Awake. Awake is a 2007 thriller/drama film written and directed by Joby Harold and set for release on November 30th. It stars Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba. The film is rated R for language, an intense disturbing situation, and brief drug use. The story focuses on a man named Clay who is in love with a woman named Sam but is unwilling to tell his mother of their relationship. We later find out this is due to Sam being his mother’s personal assistant. Clay suffers from a heart condition which requires a heart transplant to be carried out by a doctor who previously saved his life and is now his good friend. However during the surgery he encounters “anesthetic awareness” and finds himself awake and aware, but paralyzed. To escape the pain, Clay has an out of body experience and uncovers some sinister plots. Meanwhile Sam must wrestle with her own demons as a drama unfolds around them.

The cast of this movie include Hayden Christensen as Clay, Jessica Alba as Sam, Lena Olin as Clay’s Mother, Terrence Howard as Jack, Christopher McDonald as Dr. Larry Lupin and Steven Hinkle as Young Clay. A part of the film’s plot resembles an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents entitled “Breakdown” (1955), about a man who was about to be misdiagnosed dead because he was unresponsive on the medical examination table. The presumably dead man was saved from a premature burial when he managed to shed a tear, indicating that he was merely paralyzed and very much alive.

I didn’t see too much about this movie on the internet while researching to write this review but the movie seems to be a considerably interesting movie and one that can be anticipated for. As written above, the plot is seemingly interesting and seems to be a movie that is going to involve a lot of emotional sidelines to it and I really don’t have much to say until I actually watch the movie.
